Heading to CNET.
So I got a lot of questions about me joining CNET and leaving TWiT. I’ll answer them here. Also, thank you to everyone for the well wishes. It’s definitely appreciated.

Are you leaving TWiT and why?
Yes, I am no longer part of TWiT. I thoroughly enjoyed working at TWiT and it was a dream come true to work with such an amazing team of people. I sincerely thank everyone there for the opportunities afforded to me, their friendship, and mentorship. I wish TWiT nothing but the best and continued success.
I’m headed to CNET because I wanted to try something new. I’ve been a lifelong CNET fan and an opportunity arose that I couldn’t pass up.
What will you be doing at CNET?
I will officially be a Senior Associate Editor and I’ll edit the front page of CNET.com starting in January of 2014.
Will you be doing videos for CNET?
That’s not in the job description, but we’ve talked about it. So maybe?
Will you be doing videos anywhere else?
Yup. I plan to continue hosting HotHardware.com’s Two and a Half Geeks. I’ve also got a couple of ideas for some new shows (and I’m thinking of reviving some old shows with your help). You might see me on my own or working with those Guys From Queens (since I’m a guy from Queens as well).
Is “This Old Nerd” coming back?
I’m exploring the feasibility of that.
Do you know you sound just like Ron Richards from “All About Android?”
Yes, I do. It was a startling revelation that should have spurred an Image Comic.
When is your last day at TWiT?
My last live appearance was December 18th, 2013.
Did you get fired?
No. No one fired me. I left on my own.
Why didn’t you show up on Tom’s last TNT?
I asked to be a part of the episode, but was not allowed to appear beyond a recording.
How is Liz taking this move?

My weight and fitness have varied greatly over the years. All kinds of reasons motivated a start and all kinds of reasons stopped momentum.
In the past, I’ve successfully completed a round of P90X with a large gap in the middle due to an injury. P90X is one of those infomercial products — a bunch of workout DVDs and a fitness plan. It’s an excellent workout and it helped slim me down a considerable amount. The other part of my slimming down came from dietary changes as well as taking up an interest in indoor rock climbing.
I’ve been exercising on and off for the past couple of months. My last regular exercise routine was thrown off by yet another move. As I finally feel a bit more settled in in my new/old home, it’s time to kick off another big fitness push. Yesterday, I tried out day one of Insanity. Insanity is made by the same people behind P90X and is also a set of DVD workouts. As you can tell with the name, the workout routine is not a little light exercise.
Day one is simply a fit test. You get to see where you stand with a set of exercises. At the end of the 20+ minute workout, I was drenched. Today, is day two. I’ve read about Insanity and I’ve got a friend who has done the routine multiple times. They all warn you — you will be floor. You will be sore. Yet, they came back for more. (Okay, I’m done rhyming now).
So here are some public goals: I’d like to finish the 60 day Insanity plan as quickly as possible without injury. Additionally, I’d like to get back to indoor climbing by mid-October.
my old/new office
So if you’ve been paying attention, you may know that I recently moved again. I moved to Petaluma, CA and purchased a house with my wife, my son, and my two dogs. A little over a year later, I moved to an apartment after I separated from my wife.
After ten months separated, we decided to finalize our divorce. She wanted to move back to New York to be closer to her family and for her career. We agreed that our son will go with her to New York. That left the house and the two dogs in Petaluma.
Since the house was available (and is dog-friendly, obviously), I moved back to the house in a very odd turn of events. I now live at the house that I bought back in 2011 when I moved to California. I’m currently unpacking the place and customizing it. I just moved this past Sunday, so I’m still searching for things and hope I’ll be able to get the place up and running soon.
Three years, three moves, two places. When I move to the moon next year, I’ll let you know.
Edit: If you’re wondering why I posted this, it’s because folks have been asking about the move and it’s pretty complex as you’ve just read.
